Executive Coach

Deborah Prawda is an organization psychologist who practices coaching, consulting, facilitation and organization development for SHAMBAUGH Leadership.  She works with business units, teams and individuals to produce learning and change.

Deborah’s expertise is based on a solid foundation in adult learning and bilingual/multi-cultural living and work experience both as an external consultant to private government and intergovernmental organizations and as an internal consultant in leadership development for the Inter-American Development Bank and International Monetary Fund.  Deborah’s executive coaching and leadership development experience spans over twenty-five years and focuses on developing high potential, middle-level and senior leaders.  Her clients include the Department of Commerce, the National Institutes of Health, P & G, PepsiCo, Sharing Plough, and numerous inter-governmental agencies and private sector companies devoted to manufacturing, finance, and service.  As a long-time adjunct staff of the Center for Creative Leadership, she coaches leaders in North, Central, and South America.

Deborah brings an appreciative philosophy to her coaching work, focusing on identifying opportunities among constraints and engaging clients in actions toward positive outcomes. Her coaching framework integrates: 1) the use of assessment instruments to identify how the individual and others see leadership strengths and development opportunities; 2) challenge to move out of one’s comfort zone, stretch and grow through plans and actions and 3) support as clients experiment with and solidify new behaviours. Deborah supports clients in developing skills and competencies to lead and manage in a broad range of arenas including planning, organization culture change, team leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, coaching and developing staff and performance management.

Deborah earned a Masters Degrees in Counselling Psychology from Alliant University and a Masters Degree in Communicative Disorders from Northwestern University. She holds certificates in Organization Development and Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University and is a certified coach (ACC) with the International Coach Federation.

Deborah resides in the Washington, D.C. area.
