Leadership and Organizational Development
Peg Clarkson provides leaders the “what and how” of organizational transformation and supports them through coaching in their efforts. Her background consists of a unique combination of “start-up” experiences, change management consulting, sales learning development and facilitation as both a line sales manager and corporate staff leader. Peg has first hand expertise in improving sales culture and climate through the development of talent at all levels. She is a creative innovator with a passion for the transformation of people and communities.
During Peg’s 31-year career with IBM, she held a variety of technical, sales, marketing, internal consulting, and general business management assignments. Her last assignment was as Program Director of Sales Competencies and Sales Coaching at IBM. In that capacity she led the development and implementation of the company’s first global sales and sales manager competency model for a population size of 30,000 people. This model was used for sales talent selection and development, resulting in improved business results, employee satisfaction and retention. A creative innovator, she co-designed the first sales specific management learning offering delivered to over 6,000 managers globally and introduced innovation in content and blended learning approaches resulting in improved levels of competencies, learning design cost savings and customization options for learning delivery. Her work to embed coaching reinforcement in strategic learning offerings resulted in one program generating over $900M in incremental deal closures.
Peg consulted with senior sales executives on personal leadership, organizational development, and strategy execution to optimize overall leadership and organizational effectiveness. Her coaching initiative for senior sales executives around the sales cadence resulted in behavior shifts in service to improved climate and business performance. Prior to joining SHAMBAUGH, Peg founded and is managing principal of Optimum Leadership Strategies, an organizational transformation consulting company.
A graduate of the University of Illinois, Peg is accredited with Corporate Coach University, certified by the Coaches Training Institute, and received the Professional Certified Coach designation from the International Coach Federation.
