Biography

John has more than 40 years experience in corporate America working with Fortune 50 companies and a Big Four accounting firm. His career has spanned six industries, including aerospace and defense, automotive, professional sports, insurance, transportation and professional services.

As a senior HR executive, John has spent much of his career providing strategic and tactical advice and counsel to C-Level executives across the organizational spectrum, including corporate board members. His career has required him to work effectively across cultures which led to his travel throughout Europe and Asia Pacific, including the People’s Republic of China. At the request of the chairman of his most recent employer, he led an internal coaching, counseling and mentoring organization with an emphasis on the retention of high potential employees of all organizational levels.

John practices “Co-Active” life and leadership coaching that emphasizes a coaching relationship in which the coach and client are active collaborators in an alliance of “two equals.” Through Co-Active coaching, clients are enabled to meet their learning and developmental needs as well as career and life goals. John has enabled his coaching clients to realize greater leadership effectiveness and impact across the organization based on the understanding that people perform at their best when their personal values are in harmony with those of the organization.  Therefore, coaching can be used by the organization to create this critical alignment.

John is a graduate of the Georgetown University Leadership Coaching Certification Program and is a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF) and its Washington, DC affiliate. He is certified by the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) to administer and interpret its suite of assessment tools, including Executive Dimensions, Benchmarks, Prospector, 360 By Design, Skillscope, and Keys to Creativity. This certification provides him full access to CCL’s research, developmental tools and technical support.
