
Senior Executive Coach
Steve has been a Senior Executive Coach for 16 years and has a passion for helping leaders reach their full potential. Steve provides executive talent management, coaching, and leadership development solutions to corporations and non-profit organizations. In his career, Steve has served as a Regional Vice President for AON Consulting Worldwide and as the head of Learning, Leadership Development, and Executive Talent Management at Capital One, America Online (AOL), Time Warner Cable, and divisions of Yum Brands and PepsiCo.
At Capital One, Steve developed the talent management & succession planning processes that resulted in the company twice being named to Fortune’s Top 20 Companies for Leaders lists. Also at Capital One, Steve and his team created Capital One University, which annually ranked in the top 25 of Training Magazine’s corporate university rankings, and a high-potential Leadership Development Program (rated one of the best corporate leadership programs in the country in 2005, 2006 and 2007 by Leadership Excellence). Steve also created leadership programs and talent management systems at AOL, Time Warner and Pizza Hut, where he partnered with senior executive teams to identify and develop exceptional leaders and create people-centered cultures.
Steve was named one of America’s Top 100 thought leaders on leadership and one of the country’s Top 25 leadership coaches for 2008-2009 by Leadership Excellence magazine. He speaks regularly on the topic of leadership to corporate groups and conference audiences, writes a national weekly leadership column at leadershipexaminer.com, and is the author of "Bootstrap Leadership: 50 Ways to Break Out, Take Charge, and Move Up", a book about leadership self-development.
Steve is a graduate of the Georgetown Coaching Program. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Montana State University and Master of Arts degree in Organizational Psychology from the University of Kansas, before completing his Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from the University of Tulsa. He lives with his wife Maureen and two sons, Brett and Matt in Leesburg, VA. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys skiing, mountain climbing and backpacking.
