Diana has over 20 years of experience helping organizations and executives respond to the critical leadership challenges and opportunities that often arise in today's business environment. Recently retired from IBM after more than 31 years, Diana’s career encompassed extensive worldwide managerial and executive experience in sales, sales management, marketing, coaching, business integration, product management and service delivery.
Her last position at IBM was Corporate Director, Enterprise Learning. In that position, she designed and introduced career, professional and technical development to IBM's worldwide employee population. Some of Diana’s programs included: new employee orientation, career framework and progression, competence development, mentoring, job rotation and exploration, skills initiatives and technical development. These programs and initiatives won numerous awards from prestigious organizations such as ASTD, Brandon Hall and SHRM.
Although Diana is an expert in many areas of career development, she has had particularly strong experience in the areas of diversity, women's issues and career strategy/transitions. Her great passion is helping organizations with employee and leadership opportunities. Diana is the co-author of two well-received works on growing a career -- Intelligent Mentoring: How IBM Creates Value Through People, Knowledge and Relationships, and Versatile Career Development: Lessons & Approaches from IBM.
Diana is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC). She received her Master of Arts degree in Psychology and Counseling and a Master in Education degree from Columbia University, New York.
Over the years she has served on many community organizations, as well as non-profit, educational, and global innovation initiatives and boards, and she is a much sought-after speaker on multicultural and women's issues. Diana is an ordained deacon and an aspiring Master Gardener. She is married to Dr. Jerold Lawson and lives in Raleigh, NC. Their son, Tyler, attends East Carolina University.
