Debra M. Casalino is an executive coach for SHAMBAUGH specializing in leadership and career development. She works in partnership with mid-career executives and emerging leaders who are in positions that stretch their leadership abilities, management skill, or who want to plan for a new/different career direction.
Before becoming an executive coach, Debra enjoyed a 14-year career in the financial services industry working for KPMG Peat Markwick, Shawmut National Bank and Fleet Bank Financial in positions of corporate responsibility and visibility. She held a variety of meaningful positions and achieved success as a management consultant, line manager, senior human resources manager and organizational development consultant. In these varied roles, Debra partnered with corporate leaders to develop and implement organizational change initiatives to transform business strategy into financial results. She has been on both sides of the merger and acquisitions playing field and is well versed in the organizational impact they have on leadership, individual performance and motivation, organizational culture, structure, and systems change. As a result of her diverse business experience, Debra brings a broad and comprehensive perspective to her coaching practice.
Debra’s coaching engagements have crossed a number of industries, including: financial services, higher education, retail, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, as well as professional services, entrepreneurial ventures, and family owned enterprises. As an executive coach, Debra helps high potential professionals and executives expand their leadership capacity by creating individualized development strategies that suit their own workplace challenges and professional needs. She is particularly skilled in helping her clients in the areas of emotional intelligence, communications, problem solving, decision-making and taking action, team effectiveness, and values discovery. Debra’s concrete business experience complements her work and is frequently called upon to help her clients think through complex organizational challenges and chart new courses of action for effective change.
In addition to her work as an executive coach, Debra is a trained management development assessment consultant, and works with high potential sales professionals and emerging leaders in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. In this capacity, she guides her clients through management simulations, and evaluates their performance across a wide array of management skills. Additionally, she delivers feedback on her observations and creates individual development plans to support her client’s continued management skill and leadership growth.
Certified as a leadership coach through Georgetown University’s Leadership Coaching Certificate Program, Debra also holds a M.A. in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University, and a M.S. in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Debra incorporates several self-assessment tools in her work, and is trained to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Conflict Dynamics Profile, Bar-on Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-i), and HOGAN personality analysis assessments.
